Industrial Bug Screen Roll-Up Doors: Ventilation Without Contamination

Industrial Bug Screen Roll-Up Doors are designed to maximize airflow while helping keep insects, birds, pests, debris, and airborne contaminants out of your facility.

Commonly installed in warehouses, food processing plants, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and loading dock openings, bug screen doors allow facilities to improve ventilation without sacrificing operational efficiency.

These industrial-grade mesh doors can be installed on dock doors, open warehouse bays, dumpster enclosures, and existing overhead door openings, providing a simple solution for facilities looking to increase airflow while supporting pest control efforts.

For food processing and packaging operations, bug screen doors can also help support facility programs designed to meet USDA and AIB standards.

Product Features

Screen Mesh Options: Bug, Bird & Gnat

The standard door is constructed using durable 17×11 industrial bug screen mesh, which allows up to 35% airflow while helping block flying insects, birds, and debris. It’s perfect for food processing and manufacturing plants, helping facilities comply with USDA Federal regulations 9CFR416.2, 21CFR110.20, 21CFR110.35 and help to meet AIB standards.

Bird screen and gnat screen mesh options are also available depending on your airflow and pest control priorities.

Mesh Type Material Weave Airflow Colors
Bug Screen (Standard) .025″ vinyl-coated polyester 17 × 11  35% flow Green, Blue, Black, Yellow
Bird Screen .025″ vinyl-coated polyester 12 × 7  75% flow Black
Gnat Screen .014″ vinyl-coated polyester 17 × 20  55% flow Black

Breakaway Design

Flexible fiberglass wind bars (aluminum hinges for large doors) and a breakaway bottom design help minimize damage from accidental impacts. Doors can automatically reset after impact with the automatic reset sytem, minimizing downtime.

Designed for daily industrial use, this feature helps reduce downtime and keeps operations moving.

SnapTite Track & Automatic Reset System

Heavy-duty aluminum SnapTite tracks with integrated weather stripping are engineered for easy maintenance and quick replacement.

Many configurations feature an automatic reset capability, allowing the door to return to normal operation after impact. Watch the reset system in action:

Positive Floor Seal

A foam bottom cushion or bottom profile with vinyl loop conforms to uneven floor surfaces, helping eliminate gaps at the bottom of the opening.

Mounting Options

Industrial Bug Screen Doors are available in three mounting configurations to accommodate virtually any opening.

Between-Jamb Mount

Installed between the wall jambs and beneath the header.

This option places the door inside the opening and reduces available clear opening dimensions. Not available on chain hoist or high-cycle motorized models.

Best For:

  • Interior openings
  • When there are obstacles in the way of a wall mount
  • Facilities with adequate side room and headroom

Face-of-Wall Mount

Installed on the face of the wall and sized larger than the opening to maintain maximum clear access.

Can be mounted on either the interior or exterior wall surface.

Best For:

  • When you need to maintain a full clear opening
  • Warehouse openings
  • Loading dock doors
  • Manufacturing facilities

Stand-Off Mount

Designed to mount over or around an existing sectional or roll-up door.

Tracks attach to the existing door system using specialized brackets, while brush seals or header panels help close off the top of the opening.

Best For:

  • Existing dock doors
  • Retrofit applications
  • Facilities requiring dual-door functionality

Operating Options: Manual, Chain Hoist & Motorized

Choose the operation style that best fits your facility's traffic and cycle requirements.

Operation Max Size* Daily Cycles Best For
Spring-Assisted Manual 12' W × 12' H Low traffic Openings where power is unavailable or unnecessary
Chain Hoist 16' W × 16' H Low traffic Larger openings requiring manual operation
In-Tube Motorized 16' W × 16' H Up to ~25/day Push-button convenience; motor hidden inside the door barrel
High-Cycle Motorized 25' W × 20' H+ Frequent daily use Warehouses, manufacturing, and distribution centers

Lead Times & Warranty

Lead times vary based on door size, operation type, quantity, and season. For 1–2 doors during peak summer demand, typical lead time is 3–5 weeks. Expedited production is available for an additional fee — let us know your deadline when you request a quote.

Every door is backed by a 1-year manufacturer's limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship from the date of shipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a bug screen door be installed over an existing dock door?

Yes. The stand-off mount is designed specifically for this — tracks attach to your existing sectional or roll-up door system using specialized brackets, so you keep your existing door and add screen ventilation without modifying the opening.

How much airflow do bug screen doors allow?

The standard 17×11 bug screen mesh allows approximately 35% airflow. If airflow is your top priority, bird screen mesh allows 75% airflow, and gnat screen mesh (for the smallest insects) allows 55%.

What sizes are available?

Standard configurations cover openings up to 25' wide × 20' high with a high-cycle motorized operator, with smaller maximums for manual and chain hoist operation. Larger or non-standard openings are often possible depending on mesh and operator configuration — request a quote or reach out and we'll confirm what works for your opening.

Do bug screen doors help with USDA or AIB compliance?

Bug screen doors can help support facility programs designed to meet USDA and AIB standards by reducing pest intrusion and airborne contamination at open dock doors and warehouse bays while maintaining ventilation.

What happens if a forklift hits the door?

The breakaway design with flexible wind bars is built to absorb accidental impacts, and many configurations automatically reset so the door returns to normal operation without repairs — minimizing downtime in busy facilities.

How long does it take to get a bug screen door?

Typical lead time for 1–2 doors is 3–5 weeks during peak season, and expedited production is available for a fee if you're on a tight timeline.
